Welcome to the Daughters of Divine Love English Region website

The Daughters of Divine Love Congregation (DDL) is an international order of religious women founded by late Bishop Godfrey Mary Paul Okoye, C.S.Sp, on 16th July 1969 in Nigeria. It was founded during the agonizing and ravaging Nigeria-Biafra war. At present, the congregarion has more than 1000 professed Sisters. The Daughters are known in a special manner for their love of God and love of neighbour, coupled with deep humility, self- sacrifice and solid piety. Rooted and grounded in Love. This love is self-sacrificing love.
The Daughters combine contemplation with apostolic action as seen in the life of Our Lord Himself. Interior life of prayer therefore, is essential.
The Congregation is particularly dedicated to the Infinite Love of God, so lovable and adorable in Himself and so good to us His creatures, to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Holy Spirit of Love. It is under the special protection and invocation of the immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Divine Love.
The principal feast of the Congregation is the feast of the mystery of the Incarnation- the mystery in which we see the Divine Love at work. This mystery is very little explored yet. The Daughters, therefore, should always meditate on this mystery, and it will be their special joy and privilege to proclaim to all, this love of God made known to us, in God taking flesh and dwelling among us. In this mystery we see the Spirit of God overshadowing the heart of Mary and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we have Jesus Christ His Sacred Heart.

The members of the congregation known by their blue veil serve in
Africa: Cameroon, Gabon, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, and Chad.
Europe: England, Wales, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, and France. America: Cuba, Jamaica, United States, Suriname and Haiti.
